Riding the Waves of Faith: A Conversation with Wendy Wynn

On March 20, 2025, I had the honor of hosting Wendy Wynn on my podcast, where we dove deep into her incredible journey of faith, resilience, and the unique path she’s taken in the world of rodeo and saddle fitting. Wendy's story is filled with heartwarming anecdotes, tough moments, and the transformative power of faith that can resonate with everyone, regardless of their religious background.

Meeting Wendy

Wendy, who resides in Kansas with her family, has an extensive background in rodeo coaching and saddle fitting for Burns Saddles . With over 30 years of marriage to her "Superman," she shared the importance of her family life, her three children, and how they have all embraced their unique journeys in the world of rodeo and beyond.

From Skepticism to Faith

Wendy's upbringing in Southeastern Idaho shaped much of her early life. Raised in a home steeped in faith, she experienced a tumultuous relationship with religion during her youth. After a series of life's tribulations, she found herself distanced from her spiritual roots from the age of eight until she was 25. At this time, a near-fatal accident became a pivotal point in her life. Wendy recounted a harrowing experience when a horse accident left her unconscious but led her to seek God for the first time genuinely. "I crawled out of that hole," she reflected, "and for the first time in my life, I prayed out loud." This moment marked the beginning of her unwavering faith.

The Transformative Power of Service

Service is a recurring theme in Wendy's life, intertwined with her battle to help others and stay connected to her faith. Through saddle fitting, Wendy has discovered a unique ministry. Every saddle she fits becomes an opportunity for connection, conversation, and sometimes, even healing. One touching story involved a chance encounter with a client, Sandy Stewart, who, driven by urgency, asked Wendy to pray for a tragic situation involving a friend. This seemingly small request blossomed into a profound connection with those grieving, underscoring how prayer can span distances and bring people together. Through her work, Wendy has had the opportunity to touch countless lives, whether fitting a saddle for a young girl or sharing a testimony with women around a campfire. She described how these interactions, while seemingly mundane, become profound when we allow the Spirit to guide our conversations.

Faith in Action

As we explored Wendy's life, she shared uplifting stories of faith in action. From teaching her daughter about trust and courage during a challenging pregnancy to how she has fostered a sense of community among rodeo athletes, Wendy's life exemplifies living one's faith every day. Her daughter Kylie's experience of becoming a single mother and choosing adoption highlighted the power of familial love and support. It was evident that faith had not only sheltered them through trials but had strengthened their bonds.

Finding God in the Everyday

Wendy's insights on faith and service resonate deeply in a world that often feels chaotic. Her message is clear: we can serve God without traditional church confines. Whether in the arena fitting saddles or coaching students, the essence lies in embodying kindness and faith in our daily interactions.“I think sometimes you don’t feel worthy to sit in the back row of the church pew,” she remarked, emphasizing that everyone has a place in the Lord’s eyes. Her belief that "there's always room at the Lord's table" is a reminder that we should extend love and acceptance, not only to ourselves but to those around us.

Closing Thoughts

As our session drew to a close, Wendy and I shared a heartfelt prayer, asking for blessings on our endeavors and those who would listen to our conversation. Her spirit of gratitude was infectious, leaving everyone involved with a sense of hope and purpose. Wendy Wynn's journey teaches us that life’s path is seldom linear, that faith can emerge from our most challenging moments, and perhaps, most importantly, that by opening ourselves up to connection and service, we can experience the divine in our everyday lives. If you're looking for a story that illustrates resilience, faith, and community, Wendy's journey is a testament that living authentically can inspire change, bringing us all closer together in this shared human experience.

Thank you, Wendy, for your openness and your commitment to serving God in all that you do.
