A man of God recently suggested a book to me it's called. “Don't let the enemy have a seat at your table”. I purchased it and started diving into the content. The book delves into the various strategies employed by the devil to gain a foothold in our hearts and minds, and one of these tactics really resonated with me. Comparison is one way, but there are also many other methods. My initial thought while reading was that it wasn't a big deal for me. But we know God has a way of working in our hearts.  After reading, I sat on the couch and scrolling repeatedly before going to sleep. Something bubbled up in comparison. I had to ask myself, what am I scrolling for? What am I hoping to see or find?

I shut down my phone and realized there was nothing I needed or wanted. When I woke up the next day, I couldn't stop thinking about what comparison actually looks like.

I went out running. It was a cool morning and the morning dew had saturated the grass along the path. It was a low maintenance road. Remnants of farm equipment tracks were still visible on the road, despite the growing weeds. I took the track on the right side for my run since it seemed to be less overgrown. While I was going, I compared my track to the other one and wasn't sure if mine was the best. So, I quickly moved to the left. When I get there, my feet are still wet. I looked at the one on that right and hopped back. I kept running, jumping between the two tracks and comparing. During my run, I found myself constantly looking ahead and comparing my current location to other places, hoping that somewhere else would be better than where I currently was.

I can't help but wonder, how often do I look at someone's life and think about my own? Do I see things in their life that look better, easier, and nicer than mine?

Do I desire that for myself? Perhaps

Galatians 6:4-10 "Don't compare yourself with others. Just look at your own work to see if you have done anything to be proud of. You must each accept the responsibilities that are yours"

But now think about this

Perhaps God has a different plan for you than what you're comparing to.

Perhaps God's plan for you is way better, even if it means some discomfort and getting your feet wet. But the path he has you on is filled with his promises for your life. He's not asking you to compare the promises he's made for someone else's life.

He's asking you to run with joy on your own path and not let the devil trick you by comparing what God has for you with what someone else has.

So, no matter what you're going through today, I encourage you to seek God today and ask Him to show you what He has for you on your path. Don't compare or look at others' paths, but instead find peace and joy in the unique path God has created just for you. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah

29:11 Philippians 2:2-4 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

Fill up and complete my joy by living in harmony and being of the same mind and one in purpose, having the same love, being in full accord and of one harmonious mind and intention. Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves]. Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others.
