Can you relate to being or feeling like you are in a desolate place?  Not having enough? Feeling as if you go any farther you may collapse?

Mark Chapter 8 highlights the importance of not letting circumstances distract us from recognizing God's ability to provide and fulfill our needs. Jesus speaking to a crowd of more than 4000 people for almost three days and food had run low. Jesus recognizes and had compassion on the people. Are there moments in your life when you seek Jesus's compassion?

Jesus asked his disciples what food they had; they surveyed their bleak surroundings and replied that their supplies were inadequate, and they are in a desolate area. Have we ever been in such dire circumstances that all hope seemed lost? Jesus did not let the lack of supply deter him from supplying the needs of the people to find what they could.  The disciples discovered a few loaves and fish, which Jesus then blessed and shared with them until they were full. This story serves as a reminder to us that we should not base understand of what is provided to me by looking at what is seen, but on the belief that Jesus can provide beyond what is visible.

Today I pray Jesus opened my mind and opened my heart to recognize just how compassionate you are towards me. How you want to provide and satisfy the needs. Jesus take my hardened heart which at times lacks the ability to believe that you are capable of more than I can ever imagine soften it .Open my eyes to recognize that even if I am not capable, you are capable of so much more. Help me today to recognize not to rely on my own abilities but rather to put my trust in you to follow you to do your will. Thank you, Jesus, for your provisions. Thank you

Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.” His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?” “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied. He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people, and they did so. They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them. The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. About four thousand were present. After he had sent them away, 10 he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha. 11 The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven. 12 He sighed deeply and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.” 13 Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.
